Grade 2

Welcome to Grade 2 Music Page

Second Graders come to music once a week for 50 minutes. Every class begins with a mystery pitch. Students will use ear training and solo singing to identify the mystery pitch. This mystery always relates to the particular song we are learning. Grade 2 has a focus on solo singing, playing xylophones, and world music. We also master rhythm and beat. Students learn the difference between a beat and rhythm. They also begin to learn how to read musical notation in preparation for Grade3 Recorder Unit.
